Youth Choir Sign Up Form
Dear Parents/guardians,
Singing is one of the best ways for kids to express themselves. It is also one of the best ways to praise our Lord. Our youth music ministry choir is a group of our talented youth from grades 1 all the way through 12. We meet once per week for rehearsal on Sunday mornings from 11:15-12:30 downstairs in the basement, and we sing at the 10:00 am mass once per month, usually on the second Sunday.
As well as sing at the 10:00 mass, the choir also puts on an annual Christmas concert. This year’s concert is set for Saturday December 15, after the 5:30 mass. We do many contemporary styles of music, like “Jingle Bell Rock”, all the way down to classic choral literature, like “Lo How a Rose E’er Blooming”. Right now, we are in the beginning stages of putting our fourth annual concert together.
As we are continuing to build new traditions, we also put on an annual Spring concert. Last year was our first one, and we had so much fun putting it together. We did some titles such as “It Don’t Mean a Thing, if it Ain’t Got that Swing”, and “Sing Sing Sing”, all the way to 18th century classical titles such as Mozart’s motet “Alleluia”. This concert also doubled as a talent show where choir members were allowed to put on their own musical, or nonmusical acts. We had dancers, singers, magicians, the works!
As all of the kids already in the choir will tell you, we have a lot of fun working together. There is never a dull moment in our choir.
